A drive bay is a system unit space where we can install the drives or other computer peripherals. There are various drive bays of our PC. Check out how often do you use your drive bays? Are there many empty drive bays? Here are some things we can do to make the best use of those empty bays so as to add more features to our PC.
Super Speed SD Card Reader
Most of the laptops today have SD card readers, but some of the pre-built ones do not have any SD card readers built-in. Without the SD card reader, we will find it very annoying when we have a lot of photos in the cameras that have to be transferred to our computers. Then, we may add a simple SD card reader to our PC or choose a USB 3.0 card reader to enjoy the super fast USB 3.0 speed. Unlike many other card readers, the USB 3.0 card reader transfer files, photos, videos at blazing fast speed, with a USB interface speed up to 500MB/s, which means we spend less time waiting around and more time enjoying the media. This card reader fits any computer chassis and any 3.5" external drive bay. It is very versatile, and able to read six popular memory card formats. Besides, the USB 3.0 card reader offers us extra USB 3.0 ports on the front. It's nice to have all the card readers and USB port planted on the front of the PC. Really a nice upgrade.
Drawer for Better Organizing Our Important Accessories
Our computer desk may offer us a few drawers to store files, notebooks, and other office stuff. But we have more important accessories, such as flash drives, USB gadgets, memory card, etc. We can actually get a 5.25" drawer which easily fits into the front drive bay of our computers. I is really practical and especially useful when we have to store some of the important accessories like the drive for payment, USB drives, small tools and even candy. Besides, we can make best use of the drive bays which may be otherwise left unused. Anyway, the drawer gives us a nifty hiding place.
Hot Swap Drive Dock for Extra Hard Drives
A hot swap hard drive docking station, like this one from iDsonix, puts a tiny door on the front of our case where we can slide in a hard drive and connect it to our computer. If we want to copy the drive without opening up the entire machine to hook up a new hard drive, this hot swap docking station is really a convenient solution. If we are trying to solve the problem of a friend's hard drive yet fail to use their computer, throw the hard drive in the hot swap bay. The computer can work just like an external drive. The dock can easily transfer data from our 2.5"/3.5" SATA hard drive to our computer through USB 3.0 and eSATA port without having to mount the hard drive, or installing it in an enclosure. That’s really a simple, fast, and cost effective solution for data recovery.
